Wild Thing
VW Beetle covered inside and outside with moss, which was carefully gathered by a specialist moss team, from sustainable sites and with permission from the Forestry Commission.
The sounds of woodland birds were recorded from Belladrums dawn chorus. The audios were heard coming from inside the car. Labels were tied to the wing mirror and they mapped the Moss for educational purposes. These could be pulled off and used to help people to look up close and learn about the various species they could see.
In the evening the car installation transformed into another piece. A film was projected onto a screen from its front window. It played a nostalgic road trip around the Highlands. The visuals were accompanied by road music, this was chosen by people who were incarcerated by SPS and dreamed to be free
'Wild Thing' was part of Outside Art at Belladrum Festival and was also displayed in Rose Street Car Park Inverness as part of the IOTA Sublime project, both in 2011.
The car was cleaned up and sold after the event to a Beetle restorer and is now back on the road.
